Just wrapped up my first week at the new gig after my job swap.
I think I’m going to enjoy the place, but it’s too soon to know until I get my sea legs and a little momentum.
Complicated. Ambiguous. In my experience things are rarely both. Ambiguity is often confused for complexity.
Complexity is easier and safer to navigate than ambiguity.
Even with the ambiguity aside, I’ve got so much reading to do on ecosystem tooling. It’s a huge shift coming over from EL and also from shifting from consumer of the OS to creator of the OS. Dark Horse is far simpler than Debian. It also can’t do as much because they’re intended for different things.
All the same, I’m digging it. I think I celebrated a little too much last night. I’m getting a little too old to drink like that, but, had a fun night.
Keyboard already died on me. KVM switch is trying to. Office needs a spring cleaning. It might be time to shift gears a bit.
At some point if the gig becomes settled in I’ll have to move to Austin. Which is funny, because, that’s very close to where I was looking at moving to before the big life storm. I’ll need to be sure. My network in Columbus is again what saved me this round. If I had not been able to drive to Columbus from where I am, I might’ve ended up in a really compromised spot.
My pullups experiment is still going. Pullups are getting easier. I’m up to 5 with the bands with no issues. If I remove bands that arm with the cubital tunnel issue starts acting up and it takes a few days to heal, so, I’m easing into it. I might step-shift, like get to where I’m doing 10 pullups with the bands as well as I’m doing the 5 now, and then drop back to 5 without the bands to get that stability built up first. Body is reshaping a bit. Dropping that belly.
There’s no other real planning to do. Pick away at the DPM design until it’s good enough to build out. Save, save, save. Learn the new gig. Clean the office. Sober up a bit. Keep working out. Clip the dog’s nails.
